Main Street construction on schedule for Hot August Nights

LEWISTON, ID - Construction crews were right on time for car enthusiasts cruising downtown with the opening of both Main and D Streets at the intersection of Fifth Street.

The reconstruction started in June and is expected to fully wrap up at the end of October, or the first part of November. City of Lewiston Development Engineer Shawn Stubbers said that despite a few set backs, the roads are ready for this weekend's festivities.

"We had always planned on having just this first phase done, which was going to keep us to one lane of traffic on both Main and D," said Stubbers.

Stubbers said operations will remain the same along the roadways except at the construction area where only one lane of traffic will be open. He said no cars will drive on unpaved roads but some areas of the sidewalk will remain closed.
