Manhunt underway for escaped inmate Derek Bost from Lewis County Jail
OROFINO, ID —
The inmate on the run is 54-year-old Derek Bost. Lewis County Sheriff Jason Davis says it happened when his deputies were transferring Bost between two buildings.
This is a booking photo of Derek Bost released by the Lewis County Jail. We’re told he’s gained about 40 pounds since it was taken. Bost is five-feet-eleven, has hazel eyes, brown hair, and weighs about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing an orange jump suit.
Officials say Derek Bost is possibly in a grey or black 1999 Jeep Cherokee with Idaho license plates “eye” I-54046. He was last seen heading from Nez Perce towards Greer Grade, to highway-12 in Orofino.
Bost was in jail on nine charges including five felonies…for two charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of major contraband in jail, burglary and unlawful possession of a fire arm. His misdemeanors include petty theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of contraband.
Officials warn the public do not pick up any hitchhikers. Keep your doors locked and do not open your door to strangers. Also they say people need to be aware that Bost is probably desperate to stay out of custody, and he’ll do anything he can to get away, which makes him a danger.
If you see Derek Bost call 911.
