Local musical groups performed as part of several events L-C held to honor King's memory. Chris Riggs said the impact the peaceful activist had on American history is still very much relevant in today's society.
"Some make the argument that we need to extend civil rights to many populations that do not have full rights," said LCSC Political Science Assistant Professor, Dr. Leif Hoffman. "So fighting for each others rights because it might not be you today but it might be you tomorrow and I think to just be aware of it is a really powerful message."
The Idaho Human Rights Committee puts on events every year in the Valley in honor or the Martin Luther King holiday.
