Moscow man faces multiple charges after woman escapes his apartment

MOSCOW, ID - A Moscow man was recently arrested for the reported rape and assault of a woman in his apartment.

Moscow Police responded to a 9-1-1 call near the intersection of Jackson and D Street and found a badly beaten woman that claims to have escaped from 38-year-old Samuel Eichler's apartment after being assaulted for hours. The victim told police that she willingly went into the apartment, however Eichler became angry with her and then punched and choked her.

"Her statement was that she lost consciousness at that point," said Moscow Police Chief David Duke. "When she did wake up, she was on the floor outside his bedroom, at which time he dragged her into the bedroom and attempted to rape her, is what she would say, over the next several hours."

According to Moscow PD, the woman escaped when her boyfriend showed up and intervened. Police surrounded Eichler's apartment and arrested him on felony charges of battery, rape, and kidnapping with Intent of rape. He's also charged with a misdemeanor count of false Imprisonment.

Eichler's currently being held at the Latah County Jail on a $200,000 bond, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 20th.
