Moscow Recycling paying 35-cents a pound for aluminum in celebration of Earth Day
MOSCOW, ID —
Residents have all week to turn their aluminum cans into some extra cash. Moscow Recycling is paying 35-cents a pound for aluminum cans this week in celebration of Earth Day on Saturday.
Usually this is a one-day event, but this year officials decided to stretch it out an entire week. They say it is not only good for the environment, but it will help reduce the amount of solid waste sent to the landfills every year.
“Think about recycling again and how that effects the environment in keeping our resources that are limited in the environment, so if we're reusing them in the form of recycling and then we're not using as many natural resources,” said Andy Boyd, Operations Manager.
Typically, the center pays out 20-cents a pound for aluminum and every year between 60 to 80,000 pounds is collected at Moscow Recycling alone. They are open from 9:30 to 5:30 the rest of the week.
