Moscow's largest event of the year is officially underway

MOSCOW, ID - The Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival started Wednesday night on the University of Idaho campus, and it will continue through Saturday.

The festival brings jazz artists from across the county to the Palouse, including some of tonight's performers who traveled from LA and New York City.

"Even just the short time I've been here, a day or two, with the music in the schools, and all the great performances, and the school bands, it's really something special," said All-Star Quartet Guitarist Bruce Forman.

"It's just a great environment to be in for learning, for playing, for swinging, for all the good stuff," said All-Star Quartet Drummer Kevin Kanner.

Concerts will be spread out around campus on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night, with various performances all night long. Tickets range from about $30 to $50 for adults, but students, seniors, and kids get in for less. Some of the headlines of the festival include Maceo Parker, Regina Carter, and the Jeff Hamilton Trio.
