Heat exhaustion and heat-stroke are the most common illnesses in the summer. Both can happen to anyone. Leaders from Idaho Public Health's North Central District said it's important to stay hydrated and keep your body temperature down in the summer.
Some symptoms of heat exhaustion include, headache, nausea, irritability and a fast heartbeat. Symptoms of a heat stroke include confusion, fainting, seizures and a very high body temperature.
"The whole lesson is safety hydrated, avoid the symptoms and if you start to see the symptoms remove yourself from the heat and hydrate," said Idaho Public Health Administrator Mike Larson. "If you see someone who's in the advanced stages of heat exhaustion make sure you get them to medical care."
Larson said the easiest way to avoid a heat-related illness is to stay in an air-conditioned building. If you don't have access to air conditioning, go swimming, drink cold water or keep a fan nearby.
