Gold's Gym owner Regan Hansen said that the city accommodated their move-in ahead of schedule. But because of the sudden move, all the necessary permits were not yet completed. Hansen said that the rush to move out of the old facility within two days was because of a sudden $25,000 rent hike.
"He wanted to go to $35,000 a month," said Hansen. "We were willing to go up in rent but it became ridiculous with what he wanted, and we had no choice what to do or go bankrupt, we can't do that."
Some exercise classes are still being offered. Times and locations will be posted on Gold's website. Hansen is unsure of exactly when they'll actually be able to open the doors to their new facility.
