A Walgreens is in the works on the corner of Fifth and Bridge Streets. its estimated to be 14,000 square feet. Just down the street, Sleep Country is underway. It's being built on the corner of Fifth and Fair Streets. It'll be almost 5,000 square feet.
Mayor Kathleen Warren said these new businesses should bring in additional sales tax revenue for the city. She doesn't think it'll be a major increase, but said every little bit helps.
"What's more important is how many people they employ, because we need businesses that can employ more people," said Mayor Warren.
The construction of both buildings started in mid-March and at this point there's no projected end date, but we'll keep you posted on the progress.
