Nez Perce reservation dispatch services receive long overdue payment

LEWISTON, ID - A large sum of money from the Federal Government will be going to the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office to help out with dispatch efforts for the Nez Perce Reservation.

In about ten days from now, a lump sum of $53,000 will arrive. The Nez Perce County Sheriff's office has always provided dispatch services for the reservation, which has it's own police force, but has never received payment until now.

"One of the things we looked at is the comparison of other entities and what their dispatch is getting paid and the call load of service," said Nez Perce County Sheriff Joe Rodriguez.

This contract is good for one year with a renewal option. Some of the money will be used for system upkeep's and to hire one additional dispatcher. Lewiston and Nez Perce are the only two dispatch centers in the region. Most, out-source their dispatching through Whitcom dispatch center, based out of Pullman.
