At last check, Asotin County received 2 same-sex couple marriage license applications, and Whitman County had one Thursday morning as well. Whitman County Auditor Eunice Coker said that even though her office didn't get as busy as expected, she's still looking forward to helping same-sex couples get their marriage licenses in the future.
It's kind of interesting to watch this history unfold today, while you're in the middle of it," said Coker. "I'm getting goosebumps."
Coker said she can grant a marriage license to couples from anywhere, as long as they're getting married in Washington. Both parties must be over 18 with a photo ID, and it's recommended that you have a date picked out for the wedding. Keep in mind that there is a three-day waiting period, which means Friday is the last day that you can apply to get married on 12-12-12.
