N.P. Co. Commission meeting discuss public records request filed by URA

LEWISTON, ID - New developments in the county's lawsuit against the Urban Renewal Agency as URA officials make a public records request.

The Nez Perce County Commission held a meeting on Wednesday to discuss a public records request filed by the URA regarding the commission's decision to file a suit against the City of Lewiston and the Lewiston Urban Renewal Agency.

Nez Perce County Prosecutor Dan Spickler said that the request is standard, as both sides prepare for the possibility of going to court.

"They'll show up in his court on a certain day, certain time, certain place, along with us and present their argument to why they should have to shut it down," said Spickler.

The county is asking to close the North Lewiston and Nez Perce Terrace Projects, and direct that money away from the URA and back to each entity. However despite the completion of those projects, the council didn't agree. And now according to Spickler, Judge Stegner will decide who's interpretation of the URA statute is correct... the county or the city. County officials said they have nothing to hide and all agreed to deliver the agenda and minutes from the meeting in question.
