N.P. National Historical Park furloughed employees return to work

SPALDING, ID - Federal employees are back to work and our local national park is open after 16 days of the partial government shutdown.

Thousands of furloughed federal workers returned to their job across the country Thursday. Out of those, 22 employees from the Nez Perce National Historical Park were able to return as well. Nez Perce Chief of Interpretation Terry O'Halloran, encourages everyone to come and and enjoy the park this weekend.

"We're delighted to have folks back visiting us," said O'Halloran. "As a national park it belongs to all of us, so we encourage everyone to come out and use the sites and learn a little bit more about the history of the area."

The Visitor Center will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The bill signed by President Obama includes back pay for furloughed employees who were unable to work.
