Nursing home employee trial date set for alleged rape of elderly woman

ASOTIN, WA - The trial date has been set for a man accused of raping an elderly woman at The Sycamore Glen Assisted Living Facility.

Luis Avila, 38, allegedly raped a 72-year-old woman last year while he was working as a night care employee at the facility. Judge William Acey said the case can no longer be continued and is a Triple-A Set, which means it's priority number one on the court docket.

"He's been in our jail since May 17th of last year and he's yet to be convicted of anything," said Acey. "If we start his trial on May 14th he'll be in jail a couple days short of a year. Lets get it to trial and get it done."

Avila is set to stand trial on May 14th.
