Orofino police investigate alleged school threat
Around 8:42 a.m. Thursday morning, Orofino Police officers were called to the Orofino Jr/Sr High School for a reported threat made by a student.
According to Chief Jeff Wilson, the initial investigation determined that a student had sent a message via social media indicating that there would be "violence at the school today."
The chief requested the school placed into lockdown during the investigation.
"The student was contacted and removed to the Office area of the school," Wilson said in a press released.
"The student and the student's parent were cooperative and assisted with the investigation."
School officials also conducted some searches that did not result in anything of concern.
Wilson said the student left the school with the parent and the school was taken out of lockdown to resume normal school activities.
When the student and parent left the school they brought officers to their home where further searching did not turn up anything of concern.
The case is under investigation.
