Pacific Northwest Waterways Assoc. objective is achieving balance at local ports
LEWISTON, ID —
Officials say the ports in the LC Valley help benefit people from all over the world, and especially the local economy.
Officials with the Pacific Northwest Waterways Association say our ports are the top wheat export gateway in the country.
Port leaders are making sure the goods that come to and from Lewiston are smooth sailing through the Columbia Snake River system.
"Whether you care about cargo shipment or electricity production or taking care of our fish, we are doing a better job than ever before in achieving that balance," said Kristin Meira, PNWA Executive Director.
Officials say they are investing more in the dams, and waterway technology while staying environmentally friendly. They hope to keep improving the local river system.
