Carl Ingram, 65, was hit by a car along Highway 12 near Pomeroy Friday evening.
A car came around a corner and hit Ingram who was standing in the middle of the road in dark clothing.
Washington State Patrol Sergeant Mike Eggleston said the investigation is still pending, however there's no indication that charges are going to be filed against the driver.
The driver was sober and following traffic laws in the rural area. Eggleston said they believe Ingram had been drinking that evening.
