Phase I of High School Construction to Wrap up in April
LEWISTON, ID —
Lewiston's new high school may still be a couple of years from completion, but already the site on Warner Avenue is changing.
Crews from M.A. DeAtley are moving topsoil and vegetation where the school building will sit on the once vacant field.
Even before a ceremonial groundbreaking three weeks ago, the big machinery was turning the dirt at the sight of the new high school. Field engineer Cody Brown says the winter weather has slowed them down by around a week, but they aim to be done with phase one of the project by April 27th.
"Phase two is future development, where football fields, soccer fields, all the extracurricular school activities will be placed. We'll have that done hopefully by the end of the year. Right now we're just moving a lot of dirt," Brown says.
The entire project is expected to be done in the fall of 2020, and the first class to graduate from the new high school will be the Class of 2021
