Pomeroy's historic Seeley Theatre needs donations for restoration

POMEROY, WA - Many of our local communities have a storied history and the landmarks of those towns that tell the tales need a little love from time to time.

One of those is the Seeley Theatre in Pomeroy. This beautiful old building seats 500 in its main auditorium and balconies. The playhouse has hosted full-on theatrical productions, boxing matches as well as movies. The years haven't been all that kind to the Seeley, however the group that cares for the long-standing structure aims to change that.

"This is actually its 100th anniversary from the first show" said Seeley Theatre Director Cody Jones. "So we're trying to get it up and ready this year. (But) it's not gonna' happen. We're a few years out. But it's just a big old neat not completely used theatre that we need to get back."

The community board that oversees the grand old theatre graciously welcomes donations from anyone who'd like to contribute to their restoration effort. You can have a seat or a brick sponsored in your name. of course one seat is always reserved for the resident ghost. so that one is already taken.

They have a Facebook page that updates you to all the upcoming events they have planned. Just search KLEW news, like the page and you'll find a link to their page posted on ours.
