Prosecuter to decide whether to press charges in suspected DUI

PULLMAN, WA - Washington State University Police have confirmed that a Pullman City Council member tested positive for marijuana when he was arrested for a suspected DUI.

WSU police arrested council member Derrick Skaug in August after he was pulled over for changing lanes illegally and driving with high beams on. WSU police said his blood test came back positive for marijuana, and now it's up to the Whitman County prosecutor to decide if they want to press charges.

That was the second time Skaug was arrested for driving under the influence this year. He was also taken into protective custody in October after creating a disturbance at his apartment complex. Skaug's term as council member will end when elections are certified on November 26th.
