Public generosity supports military veterans combating homelessness

If you’ve driven on highway-eight in Moscow Monday, you’ve probably seen some veterans lined up on the side of the road. They are from the Guardians Foundation. A 501 public charity based out of Post Falls which assists military veterans and their families with homelessness.

The foundation was in Moscow around Christmas time accepting donations and organizers of the foundation say it was a success.

“Quite frankly that campaign saved our shelters through the winter, it was wonderful, but this campaign is focused on the awareness for the Marines and we'll only be here for two days, Monday and Tuesday,” said Michael Shaw, Executive Director.

On April first, The Marines of the Palouse will be hosting their fifth annual benefit to support local veterans.

The Guardians Foundation will also be in town to help a local family whose roof caved in from the snow this winter.

Officials with the foundation say the support from the public has been overwhelming every time they come to town.
