Pullman man allegedly fires at man's head but gun doesn't go off

PULLMAN, WA - A man was arrested Thursday morning in Pullman for assault in the first degree and unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to Pullman Police, 29-year-old Joseph A. Hopkins of Pullman was reportedly drinking Wednesday night outside the Adam's Mall at 600 Northeast Colorado Street when he got into an argument with another man.

Hopkins allegedly pulled out a gun and aimed it at the man's head. According to police, he pulled the trigger but the gun did not fire.
It's unknown if the gun was loaded or not.

Police said that Hopkins ran away from the scene on foot and stashed the weapon in the bushes. Pullman Police located him about two blocks away from the scene and arrested him around 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

He is now being held at Whitman County Jail.
