Rickman hopes ALS 'Ice Bucket Challenge' fundraisers will lead to a cure

LEWISTON, ID - An ALS fundraiser over the weekend brought in $782.00 to help find a cure for the deadly disease.

Daniel Rickman and his family set up all day on Saturday with ice water and buckets at Scotty's 3rd Base Grill in Lewiston. Rickman was diagnosed with ALS four years ago. He said he feels lucky because it started in his limbs, rather than affecting his breathing and eating first. Rickman said he's glad the Ice Bucket Challenge is spreading the word about ALS and hopefully leading to a cure.

"I believe the Ice Bucket Challenge was started because when a normal person gets ice dumped on them, it kind of makes your muscles go weak," said Rickman. "I think it's to represent a small dose of what we with ALS go through."

Scotty's donated one dollar for every meal purchased during the event. If you weren't able to make it, you can always donate and read more about ALS at
