Robosub Club of the Palouse competes at competition in San Diego

PULLMAN, WA - Some engineering students at Washington State University and University of Idaho are teaming up to show off some impressive skills in San Diego.

They'll join students from all around the world, to compete in the RoboSub competition. Yes, robotic submarines. The teams will compete in a series of obstacle courses that test the underwater vehicle.

The team has competed for several years but they hope that this year, they do better than ever before.

"There's a lot of teams even fail to get through the beginning start gate," said Matthew Taylor, RoboSub Club of the Palouse Adviser. "We've been able to do that in the past, but this year we're also hoping to do some more complicated tasks as well."

The team leaves Saturday and the competition runs all through next week. The event is, not surprisingly, co-sponsored by the U.S. Office of Naval Research.
