Reporter Sophia Miraglio finds out why hard-working students are riding on the road to fun this summer... simply, because they showed up to class.
More than 100 children, who maintained a perfect school attendance record, have received the perfect gift at the perfect moment...summertime!
"I'm happy to get the bike because I can do more things during summer," said Parkway Elementary student Sophia Brouse.
"I'm gonna' ride it on bike rides and then I'm going to go around the block," said Asotin Elementary student Ally Webb.
Rogers Toyota-Scion rewarded local students by giving away bikes and helmets as part of the company's annual Perfect Attendance Spells Success giveaway campaign.
"We think it's a win, win for everyone," said Rogers Toyota-Scion Owner Ryan Rogers. "The students, the schools, and for a company, locally in the Lewiston Clarkston Valley."
Seven years ago they started out by giving away just 14 bikes. With time, this act of kindness has spread to many more deserving kids.
"This year we have over 115 in here, so we think our program is working and is an incentive for kids to stay in school," said Rogers.
Camelot student, Kaden Knittel, couldn't agree more, and has an important message for all those soon to be sixth-graders out there.
"If you get perfect attendance, you get this awesome bike," said Knittel. "So stay in school because you have lots of fun."
"Thanks Rogers!" said Webb.
The dealership invited all the winners and their families to celebrate each child's perfect attendance by stepping outside to enjoy a barbecue, put on by the dealership.
