Saturated fields cause Moscow Parks & Recreation to close multiple parks
MOSCOW, ID —
Our wet conditions cause the city of Moscow to shut down some of its parks. The Athletic Fields and Dog Park at Mountain View Park are closed until further notice. Also closed are the Moscow School District Community Playfields, as well as Heron’s Hideout and Oylear Fields.
Officials with the Parks and Recreation Department say use of the fields could damage it for later use in the year.
“The turfs really vulnerable right now being saturated as it is so a lot of use especially with dogs, people with cleats, athletic fields can tear it up pretty quick and we want to make sure it stays good for the summer,” said David Schott, Parks & Recreation Assistant Director.
The parks are closed until further notice. City staff will monitor the fields and want to have them open as soon as possible.
