Savanna Brown pleads guilty of DUI after causing car crash near Spokane

SPOKANE, WA - A Clarkston woman involved in a car wreck that killed a minor in 2005, pleaded guilty to another DUI charge in Spokane County District Court.

According to Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Geoff Kristianson, 26-year-old Savanna Brown was sentenced to 45-days in jail and four-years of probation. Brown was driving drunk near the town of Plaza, about 30-miles from Spokane when she crossed the center line and struck another vehicle.

This is her second DUI in two years, but that doesn't make the punishment a felony in the state of Washington.

"The way the law stands right now, it's on suspicion of your fifth DUI or more," said Kristianson. "So this is only her second DUI and so she can't be charged with a felony."

Along with the two DUI's, Brown was the accused driver of a car crash that killed 17-year-old Nichole Wilson in 2005. She was acquitted of those charges when the jury couldn't find enough evidence to convict her.
