Scouts learn safety & selling techniques for Girl Scouts Cookie Sale

LEWISTON, ID - Girl scout troops from all over the region came together Saturday to get ready for Girl Scout Cookie season.

The young leaders learned about the different safety and selling techniques to get ready for this Friday, the official start for cookie selling. About 100 girls came together at the Lewiston Community Center for training and to get tips from the top sellers in the region.

"It is so important because they need to learn some of those skills," said Girl Scout leader Darla Amundson. "They're learning how to manage money, count back change. How to be safe when they're out selling cookies."

The girls are able to earn scholarship money through each of the boxes they sell. Amundson said that last year in our region alone, approximately 70,000 boxes of cookies were sold by the ladies in badges.
