You may recognize this table from Alive After Five in downtown Clarkston. The artists? CASA staff members. Court Appointed Special Advocates give kids a voice in the courtroom. A lot of their volunteers are college students, who go home during the summer months.
"In the summer months we have a lot of students that go home, they take the summer off," said CASA Executive Director, Zenita Delva. "They're not working on their practicums or their internships so we always need a lot more volunteers in the summer time."
Right now Second Judicial District CASA serve over 170 children in Nez Perce and surrounding counties. All of these cases fall on only about 30 volunteers, and four staff members.
If you want to find out more about CASA or sign up to volunteer just head to our KLEW News Facebook page for a link. They'd also love to see you at the next Alive After Five for face painting on August 7th.
