Snake River search on hold after no findings

CLARKSTON, WA - The search for a possible body on the Snake River is off again as crews come up empty handed.

That's according to Captain Dan Hally of the Asotin County Sheriff's Office. They've been leading the investigation and using the assistance of the Spokane County dive team and a Side Scan Sonar team from Boise.

Hally said fishermen told them they saw something wrapped in a tarp that fell off their anchor when they pulled it up. Hally said they aren't confirming what investigation the search might be in connection with, but several missing persons cases like the Rachel Anderson disappearance are always on the forefront of their search list.

"Rachel's body could have certainly ended up in the river but we don't know that," said Hally. "We just continue to search for her in numerous locations."

They're still working to determine when they can get outside resources to come back to the Snake to continue their search, but for the time being the search is on hold.
