People can now shop at the market with their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) cards. It's part of the Backyard Harvest's 'Shop the Market' Program.
If you have a SNAP card all you have to do is swipe it at the Backyard Harvest stand and you'll receive tokens, which can be used like cash to buy food.
"It's a good way to really stretch the food benefits and get healthy delicious food that's fresh," said Chris Cummings.
If you don't use all your tokens this weekend that's okay, because they can be used any other weekend at the market.
Backyard Harvest will also offer a matching bonus of up to $10 for all transactions. SNAP cards can also be used at the farmers markets in Moscow and Pullman.
