Speakers from surrounding regions gathered at the Pomeroy Junior-Senior High School Wednesday to discuss different career opportunities and the do's and don'ts of pursuing a career. The event encourages students to think about their future after high school.
"Pomeroy is a really small town and we don't have much opportunities around here," said student Consuelo Artega. "So I think it was a really great idea to bring more careers and people who know about the careers into this little community to be able to talk to the students interested."
"We kind of did it based upon need of students, you know what are some careers their interested in and then from their kids started calling and finding speakers who would come and volunteer for the day," said teacher Amy Miller.
Future Business Leaders of America sponsored this event for the 150 students that participated. School administrators said that because of all the positive feedback, they hope to make career day an annual event.
