Cecelia Lawrence, 22, is behind bars after she led officers on a pursuit from Lewiston, to Clarkston then back to Lewiston. LPD leaders said that Lawrence was not driving at high speeds but was very erratic behind the wheel. Spike strips were used to finally stop the 2003 Chevrolet Impala on Snake River Avenue near ATK. Captain Greene said spike strips are rarely used, but highly effective.
"Like nails but they have holes in them and they go into the tires and allow the air to come out of the tires slowly," said LPD Captain, Tom Greene. "They don't blow the tire out they come out slowly so it doesn't cause the person to lose control of the vehicle and have an accident."
Alcohol was not a factor, however they did find syringes in her possession. Lawrence was charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
