Fourth of July is often synonymous with great food, family activities and of course fireworks....and this year is no exception.
"People just don't want to do nothing, it's the quality of life thing," said City of Lewiston Recreation Coordinator Beeg Johnson. "And so as a Parks and Rec Department we get to do that which we are really excited and proud about to do for our community."
The P1FCU Old Fashioned Fourth of July is quickly becoming a tradition in the L-C Valley.
The initial year we had a couple thousand people show up so we decided it's something we should continue doing.
And this years event will have something for everyone.
"It's a free thing for your family to do, entertainment provided, you can have amazing food, we will have old fashioned fire truck rides," said Johnson. "We will also have stage coach and covered wagon rides around the park. We will also have several games going on."
Parks and Rec Director Tim Barker said the alcohol free event is a way to get the Fourth of July festivities off to a good start.
"Our concept behind it was to create something that was family friendly during the day that gave something for people to do before they watch the firework show at night," said Barker.
This years event will be held on Friday at Pioneer Park in Lewiston from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.
