To promote the event, the LCSC Engineering Club is creating a display with the collected donations. The students are collecting food for Community Action Partnership and the YWCA because LCSC Volunteer Coordinator Alicia Reddy said food donations tend to drop after the holidays.
"It's just kind of a way to show how much they've taken in and how much the community and the college have pitched in to help with this," said Engineering Club Secretary Krisandrah Crall.
"Especially with summer coming up and students getting out of school, not having that free and reduced lunch, the need for food in the summer is actually greater," said Reddy. "And so we're really just trying to get donations in so they can have that stocked up and ready for when summer hits."
Reddy said for every person that brings two donation items for the drive, they'll receive $2 off the price of a Dogwood Festival T-shirt.
