Thief who targeted Idaho college ATMs busted by detectives

BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Twin Falls Police say detectives have nabbed a serial ATM thief who enjoyed targeting college campuses around the west - including Boise State University.

On Thursday, Twin Falls Police says a suspect has been arrested in Arizona who targeted ATM machines at Idaho State University, Boise State, Corban University and Dixie State College in Utah among others.

An investigation began last July when the thief moved an ATM machine from a student union building at the College of Southern Idaho into a janitorial closet. All of the cash was removed.

Detectives were able to track the suspect, who has not been identified, Jan. 26.

"We are continuing to work with the Federal Bureau of Investigation to determine the extent of the charges that will be filed against the suspect," said Detective Ben Mittelstadt, Twin Falls Police Department.
