Thirteenth Street road closed between Bridge and Poplar Streets

CLARKSTON, WA - Construction on Thirteenth Street in Clarkston started up Monday.

The road is closed between Bridge and Poplar Streets because the county's Public Utilities District is replacing waterlines under the roadway.

It's part of the Thirteenth Street paving project. Crews will be working block-by-block for the next couple months. Jim Martin is Clarkston's Public Works Director. He said this is the best way to save money and prevent from tearing up the road again in the near future.

"We're basically just upgrading the infrastructure under that resurfacing project and its great that the Public Utilities District has stepped up to do that," said Martin. "Moving block-by-block will be a little time consuming, but we'll know how well it goes once we do a block or two."

Roads will be completely closed on each block they're working on, but they'll re-open in the evening. Those who live in the area will be able to get to their homes anytime of the day, and additional parking spaces will be provided in each area.
