A tort claim filed by William Guinn against the City of Asotin said the police chief conducted wrongful behavior in the workplace. According to the claim, Police Chief Bill Derbonne overstepped his boundaries intruding on Guinn's personal life, and also didn't pay him for owed wages.
KLEW News spoke to Guinn who was terminated at the end of December.
"Seven police employees have come and gone in less than five years," said Guinn. "You know I want to see people look into it, citizens need to get involved and ask questions and find out why this stuff is happening."
Mayor Vikki Bonfield said she can't comment on personnel issues, but said Guinn was a paid volunteer, not a commissioned officer. She said the city council and herself are in support of the termination, and support chief Derbonne.
