U of I Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival preview

MOSCOW, ID - Moscow is getting ready for one of its largest events of the year, the University of Idaho's Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival is just a week away.

This event attracts renowned jazz musicians from all over the country, as well as thousands of students from all over the region. This is footage from some of last year's festivities, and Festival Director Steven Remington said this year's line-up includes new artists, and some veterans that can't get enough of the festival.

"The musicians love it here because of the way that we treat them," said Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival Executive Director Steven Remington. "They know what to expect, they know it's a student-centered event. They love the fact that it's educationally focused jazz."

Some of the most highly anticipated performers include saxophone player Benny Golson, vocalist Sheila Jordan, and saxophone player Grace Kelly. The festival kicks off next Wednesday night, and that will include a performance from the university's own jazz band. The performance lineup continues through Saturday, February 22.
