UI Presidential candidate concerned with enrollment/graduation numbers

MOSCOW, ID - The fifth and final candidate in the running to become the next University of Idaho president made her trip to Moscow Tuesday.

Doctor Laurie Stenberg-Nichols is currently the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at South Dakota State University. She said that the university's declining enrollment needs to be addressed, but that's not the only concerning number.

"Then you also need to keep them here and move them through to graduation," said U of I Presidential Candidate Doctor Laurie Stenberg-Nichols. "Idaho doesn't do as well there. Your number is low and it need to be addressed. It should be part of your enrollment and student success program."

Doctor Stenberg-Nichols said whoever takes over as president will need to determine the university's ideal capacity and come up with a strong enrollment plan.

Now that all five of the candidates have visited the U of I, the Idaho State Board of Education is expected to make a decision soon. They'll accept public input until the end of the week, and you can submit your opinion here.
