Former Nez Perce Co. Deputy guilty of 1st Degree Murder
A Couer d'Alene jury has found Joseph Thomas guilty of First Degree Murder for the death of his ex-wife Beth Irby-Thomas in 2011.
This was Thomas' second trial.
In 2011, a Nez Perce County jury convicted him of First Degree Murder.
He was sentenced to 25 to life in prison.
Thomas maintained his innocence and appealed.
In 2014, the Idaho Supreme Court overturned that conviction and granted him a new trial.
On May 30, 2017 his second trial began in Couer d'Alene.
The jury deliberated for close to four full days.
