Veteran organizations join forces for annual food drive

LEWISTON, ID - The community is coming together for another year of the annual food drive that benefits the Idaho State Veterans Home

Several groups are collecting donations and food items Friday and Saturday at grocery stores all over the Valley.

Lewis Clark Post Number 13 Commander Orlan Ranstrom said the American Legion and Auxiliary Post 13 and 27, The Veteran's of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary Post 10043, the Fleet Reserve Association Unit 063, the Marine Corps League and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 18 are all donating their time for their fellow comrades.

"Once a year, we get together and put on this food drive, in cooperation with all the stores and supermarkets in the Valley in both Clarkston and Lewiston," said Ranstrom. "And collect food for the veteran's home in Lewiston.''

"The ability to use the funds that are donated to feed our veterans just a little bit more better," said Idaho State Veteran's home volunteer coordinator and Activity Director Terri Brockman

Brockman said with the money they collect, they're able to offer a special Christmas and Thanksgiving dinner to the Veterans during the holiday season.

If you'd like to donate Friday or Saturday, visit any one of the following grocery stores in the Valley: Rosauers, Albertson's, Safeway, A & B Food or the Height's Market.
