Walla Walla Community College seeks funding from state for campus improvements

CLARKSTON, WA - Walla Walla Community College is gaining the support of the community to replace a group of older buildings on the Clarkston campus.

The Asotin County Commissioners are backing the college to apply for a state capital construction project. If the school can get the funding, the college plans to build a new welding, manufacturing and industrial aimed teaching classroom.

Director Janet Danley said they want the state to be aware of their need for a new building, however the proposal process is very competitive. Of the 19-proposals submitted right now, fewer than half are likely to get funding.

School leaders are meeting with architects this week, however a very rough estimate of the building cost is $8.5 million.
