Water restrictions not in the forecast for LOID patrons

LEWISTON, ID - Despite local reservoirs being low, water restrictions for patrons of the Lewiston Orchards Irrigation District are unlikely, that's according to LOID officials.

The hot summer and lack of moisture has caused Soldier Meadows, Manns Lake, and Lake Waha to be at less than half capacity. However, water restrictions haven't been issued since 2008, and Lewiston Orchards Irrigation District General Manager Barney Metz, said this year won't be any different.

"Patrons have done a fantastic job over the course of the summer, especially wonderful for the month of August," said Metz. "Usage has been less than forecasted and the rains that we got has helped out immensely so we're gonna have a successful irrigation season."

The typical irrigation season runs until mid-October.
