Election workers ran the "First Logic and Accuracy" test on the new machine Wednesday afternoon, and the Secretary of State certified it for the upcoming election. Whitman County hasn't purchased a new tabulator since 2005.
Auditor Eunice Coker said election night should run much smoother this year.
"We're really excited because this machine is 100-million years ahead of any other system out there," said Coker.
The New MS-850 Tabulator can read about 300 ballots a minute. It passed the accuracy test with flying colors so it'll be ready for election night on November 5th. Election leaders welcome observers on election night, so head out to Colfax if you want to see the new tabulator in action.
