WSU enters into interlocal agreement for Pullman Fire Dept. services

PULLMAN, WA - After years of negotiating, Washington State University and the City of Pullman have entered a long-term agreement on university funding of the city's fire department.

Pullman's City Council approved the interlocal agreement Tuesday night. City Supervisor Mark Workman said they've been working on this four-year agreement since 2012. Workman said last year about 24% of the fire department's calls were on campus, and this new agreement will increase funding from the university by more than $200,000.

WSU will pay more than one-million-67-thousand-dollars for the fire department's services in 2014, and that amount will be re-calculated every year based on the previous year's call volume.
