The University of Idaho event will commemorate World War One, which started 100 years ago in 1914. It officially starts next week, but Yale University History Professor Jay Winter delivered a preview lecture Tuesday afternoon.
"1914 is not commemorated in this country in the same way as it is all over the world," said Professor Jay Winter. "And perhaps it should be."
Winter said World War One was the first industrial war, and it introduced refugees and genocide into warfare. Historians from across the country will share their expertise on the Moscow campus during the symposium. It's free and open to the public, and you'll find the schedule here.
