Every year the organization holds this large fundraiser as their main source of income for the year. Approximately 800 bowls were painted for purchase by local volunteers and law enforcement agencies from around the region made all you can eat soup for the donors.
Volunteer coordinator Whitney Lohman said that because of federal and state funding cuts, they needed the record breaking numbers that they hit this year.
"We served 732 bowls of soup and that's a record for us in the ten years that we've been doing this," said Lohman.
The Asotin County Sheriff's Department took home this year's trophy, in the fierce competition for the best rated soup of the day.
