Woman beaten to death by co-worker, deputies say
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Fox26) —
A woman is dead Tuesday after investigators say she was beaten at work -- by her coworker. Now Fresno County Sheriff's deputies are trying to figure out what led up to the beating. It happened outside of a Fresno county power plant.
Fresno County Sheriff's deputies have identified the woman as 32-year-old Outi Hicks of Fresno. Investigators say she and 28-year-old Aaron Lopez were contractors working on a project at the Rio Bravo power plant on Willow Avenue. Deputies say the two were not employees there.
Deputies say the man and Hicks got into a fight when the man starting beating her with some sort of weapon, but it’s not clear what was at this time. They say the man hit her so hard she was knocked unconscious.
Investigators say plant workers tried to help her by doing CPR, while others held Lopez down. An ambulance arrived and first responders tried to continue CPR, but the woman died.
Deputies arrested Lopez. Deputies say this is the 3rd homicide of 2017 in Fresno county.
