12-year old girl of Port Orchard, Washington died from the flu
PORT ORCHARD, WA —
This past Saturday, 12-year old Piper Lowery of Port Orchard, Washington, died from the flu.
Her mother, Peggy Lowery says she didn't get her daughter the flu vaccine. She went to an Urgent Care sick on the 12th. On Saturday the 16th, her kidneys failed and she died.
"It just reminds us that it can be such a severe disease and it's just so important to protect ourselves," said Dr. Susan Turner, Public Health Officer.
Piper is the first child in seven years to die from the flu in Kitsap County, Washington.
